Prado National Museum

It is one of the most visited attraction in the capital and home to the most important Spanish collection in the world, including masterpieces of Goya, Velázquez and El Greco. The former director of the museum used to comment that Prado is an institution which represents the eyes of the world, the most significant aspects of Spanish culture as well as the most brilliant and eternal features of Spanish history.

Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum*

The Reina Sofía National Art Museum

The museum will provide you with an fascinating journey through the history of contemporary art,  illustrating different facets of the avant-garde including works by Dalí, Miró and Juan Gris as well as Picasso´s Guernica.

National Museum of Decorative Arts

It has a rich collection of more than 70,000 pieces covering the colourful design history of daily objects including those of ceramics and porcelain, glass products, furniture, knitting works, blankets, tapestries, silver crafts, jewelery, etc.

The Costume Museum

It´s an investigation centre of ethnological heritage hosted by the Ministry of Culture and also a museum that dedicates to promote the knowledge of the evolution history of clothing and attire, with its collection being the most representative heritage of the spanish culture.

Matadero Madrid

The old Legazpi slaughterhouse now is reformed to an architectural ensemble of three flexible and interconnected spaces devoted to performance art: a theatre café—which accommodates small-scale show; a large stage—for all sorts of genres and the most experimental options; and a third building for dressing rooms and areas for training, debate, analysis and rehearsing new production. Specially, there is a design centre promoted by the Madrid Council and DIMAD (Madrid Association of Designers).

La Casa Encendida

The centre, which used to house the Mont de Piété(Monte de Piedad) and now managed by la Obra Social Caja de Madrid, boasts a wonderful terrace with a view of the south of Madrid, with its activities focusing on areas of culture, solidarity, environment and education.

Caixa Forum Madrid

It’s a vivid space that opens the door to classical, modern and contemporary art, music and poetry, multimedia art, debate of current affairs as well as family and educational workshops. Its headquarter is situated in the Paseo del Prado,  whose building is the former Mediodía Electric Power Plant and one of the symbols of the city.
